Thanks for all the suggestions. The latest version incorporated a lot of the suggestions from posts in this thread.

Thanks!

Next up would be better reporting and charting funtionality and re-do the multi language support, right now it is unusable.

This small software is very useful for personal finance. But some improvement as suggested below will be more useful.
Report Section
-A balance sheet giving major heads may be very useful.
-Expance report can be gererated for a period specified by the user

The interface definitely needs work. Some suggestions:

- It would be nice if Double clicking an account on the left brings up the Account History. Double clicking at present does nothing special.

- If there is only one user profile, that profile should be selected by default.

- If multiple profiles, the last used profile should be selected by default.

- Pressing \"Escape\" should close the front/highlighted window if there is one. It is somewhat inconsistant at present.

- \"Cancel Transactions\" in \"Edit\" sounds like it will cancel a future transaction, rather than delete a current one which is what it actually does.

- The United Kingdom\'s currency is GBP, not (£), Similarly I believe the Euro is EUR, not (€). All other currencies have their three digit code, why not these two?

- It should be possible to delete a category and have it delete all subcategories rather than making the user delete each subcategory one at a time before they can delete the category itself. Obviously ensure the user confirms this action and give them a list of just what will be getting deleted.

- There is no visual icon to show that an account is locked.

- The \"new transaction\" screen should remember what sub-elements in the tree were open last time so that the user doesn\'t have to navigate for each transaction.

- Similarly, given that a user is likely to want to make multiple transactions, a way of streamlining the process would probably be a good idea.

- Increase the height and width of the two trees on the transaction screen.

- Making any change to the \"Manage accounts\" screen resets the accounts tree. Very NOT helpful.

That should do for now.

Pro: support double entries.

Con: Running balances along with debit and credit amounts are not shown in an asset or liability account.

Competing freeware: GnuCash

Thought I just downloaded it today, seems like a very well done application. Just a few suggestions at this point.

More extensive documentation
Possibly a sample \"set of books\"
A way to handle bills before they are due, with a simple reminder for bills to be paid.

Thanks!

Excellent program; however, in addition to more extended help (such as using graphs), when you edit an entry, it closes all the trees. It would be nice if the tree remained open.

Nick.

Maybe I am not understanding clearly. but every account has to be in one of the four categories :income, expense, asset(bank, cash, wallet), liability (cc, loans)
This category determines how the account balance is calculated after a transaction operating on that account.

Excellent program....

The only thing (albeit it could be either easy, or a bear to code) is non bank account accounts. And/or an example of utilizing in this way.

For Example:

One Checking Account
